Welcome to the new Greenability

After eight years of printing Greenability, we have decided to take the next step in our mission to educate and inspire readers to choose a more sustainable lifestyle. We are transitioning the magazine from a bi-monthly paper format to a new Greenability Weekly email and redesigned Greenability website. Greenability will now be free and available to everyone. This move also takes us to zero waste.

NewWeeklyMediumWith the launch of Greenability Weekly on Earth Day, we now can provide timely, free access to all content, which readers can easily share. And our fresh, new website offers a news stream and more resources, like our Green Business Marketplace. If you aren’t already receiving Greenability Weekly, just sign up here. Then watch for our weekly email and stay connected to sustainability issues, stories, businesses, events and resources.

If you are a current paid magazine subscriber or advertiser, we invite you to a Greenability Thank-You Party from 5-7 p.m. on May 7. We’ll have copies of every issue, and each of you will be able to select a year’s worth of magazines to take home. Please RSVP to [email protected], and we will give you directions to the party.

The May/June issue is in the mail, and will be our last print edition. In this special issue, we bring you The Best of Sustainability KC. It is a discerning look at eight years of stories, challenges, commentaries and special sections. It showcases the Kansas City region’s progress in becoming more sustainable. We highlight some of the most popular stories and topics, including green homes, energy efficiency and renewable energy, local and organic food, recycling and reuse ideas, transportation and greener gardens.

In 2007, my goal was to someday print on 100-percent post-consumer recycled paper in a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified facility. We exceeded those exceptionally high standards by printing at Posty Cards, a local, family-owned business greeting-card manufacturer that is housed in a LEED Platinum building powered by solar. We continue to share offices with this wonderful company.

It is with a great sense of gratitude for those who continue to support our work that we move to a digital future that is inclusive and open to all. Stay tuned!

Congratulations, Julie! You set out to establish the go to source for sustainability in Kansas City – and you did it! Living in Portland OR now, the mecca of sustainability, It is solid proof that your drumbeat of solid information and inspiring examples of living sustainably are necessary but not sufficient in Kansas City. Woefully behind Portland in public policy, sustainable living, curbside composting, recycling (including glass), easily accessible and affordable organic and local foods, etc., etc., etc., I hope Kansas City continues to give Greenability the credit it deserves. You need to be recognized as the civic leader you are. I’m grateful I had an opportunity to work with you on our common quest and will be eagerly watching for my Greenability Weekly. Best in every way, Janet
