Win free tickets to Urban Grown Farm Tour

Get a behind-the-scenes look at the food journey from field to plate at 31 urban farms on the Cultivate Kansas City Urban Grown Farms & Garden Tour on Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26.

On this self-guided tour, participants will be able to meet and talk to the farmers who grow food and raise animals on urban lots and unusual spaces throughout the metro area.

“People often think of farms being in wide open spaces,” said Katherine Kelly, executive director of Cultivate KC. “In Kansas City, we love that urban farm businesses are popping up in places you’d never imagine.”

Bringing People to the Table

To kick off the tour, Cultivate KC is hosting Bringing People to the Table, a celebration of diverse food cultures, at Tom’s Town Distillery Co. from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 22. Guests can try authentic tamales, soul food and locally sourced Choctaw corn mush and wash it all down with Tom’s Town Distillery’s signature cocktail, Boulevard beer and Amigoni wine. Gas Food Lodging and Scott DeVouton will perform. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at Cultivate KC. Tom’s Town is located at 1701 Main St., Kansas City, MO.

Would love to win tickets, at the moment in the process of purchasing 8acre farm in South KC…just off 150hwy…funds are tight while I try and qualify for mortgage. I can’t wait to become a full time Organic Farmer. Thank you for considering me for the Great KC Tour or our Urban Grown Farm and Gardens Tour.
I am looking for mentor….to help qualify for min FSA loan, to get started.

Sincerely

I always love the Urban Farm Tour. I’ve been biking it the last few years and plan to do the organized ride for the first time on Saturday with a friend. Free tickets would be icing on the cake!

Farms exist among all this smog, exhaust, litter, and pavement heat they call urban? Who would have guessed? Keep up the good work providing us with yummy tastes, and scenic retreats! I would really enjoy going on the Urban Grown farms and garden tour this weekend!

I’ve never toured an urban farm. Like what I’ve read about them and am very curious to see how they efficiently use the space to maximize the output.

I would love to win tickets for the Urban Grown Farm Tour. Recently I started working at Shawnee Town 1929, a living history museum that features a 1929 Shawnee truck farm. Since then I have become fascinated with farming and gardening, particularly with historic methods and heirloom seeds. Not only would this be a fun and unique experience, it would also be educational and benefit myself and the museum greatly.

Thank you for offering this event!

The Local Food Revolution is alive and well in Kanas City. What a better cause than to support the essential life necessity of food! Help me mentor food growing novices at St. Paul Community Garden in Independence by showing them innovative, successful food growers on this tour. What a great event where generous growers share their gardens with the interested public! Thank you for offering this gift of free tickets.

I’d like to try to come, I’ve started gardening over the past several years and learning from trial and error. It can be frustrating yet rewarding at the same time. I’d love to come out and see how these farms work and get some ideas. Definitely curious…
