At the Kansas City Zoo, children ages 7 to 18 can sign up to be a Keeper for a Day and learn what it takes to care for the zoo’s animals and habitats.
Participants will do everything from cleaning exhibits and preparing animal diets to learning the basics of animal handling and conservation.
Mini Zookeeper is designed for ages 7 – 12, and Junior Zookeeper is for ages 13 – 18. Both groups spend a day with zoo staff doing animal care and activities. Each participant receives a zoo t-shirt, nametag, water bottle and lunch. Find more information at Mini Keeper or Junior Keeper.
