Recycle old tires, computers and more

Now’s the time to get rid of the old tires behind the garage and the paint cans in the basement.

Residents of Kansas City, MO can recycle tires, paint, brush, building materials, glass, electronics and clothing at a special collection from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, November 5 at the Manuel Tech Career Center, 1320 Truman Road, Kansas City, MO. Proof of residency is required.

In conjunction with America Recycles Day, several recyclers will be taking items at the event, including:

Surplus Exchange: cell phones, computers, modems, TVs, VCRs, DVD players and other electronic items. All cathode-ray-tube items will cost $20 to recycle.

Ripple Glass: Glass containers from food and beverages.

Disabled Veterans: Clothing, accessories, linens, housewares and small appliances in good working condition.

Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity ReStore: Building materials and furniture.

RevolveKC: Bicycles to be restored.

Avenue of Life: Used mattresses, furniture and appliances in good working condition.

• Document shredding: On-site shredding and recycling. Documents must be in bags or boxes.

Neighborhood associations can collect and deliver waste tires between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to the City’s Environmental Campus at 4707 Deramus St. on November 5 and 19. Tire amnesty collections are usually held the first Saturday of each month.
