Watch for bald eagles on a river boat ride

Watch the eagles soar at several area Eagle Days events, including a pontoon boat ride down the Missouri River.

Some eagles stay nearby all year-round, but many more come into the area during cold winter months to find food. View these powerful forces of nature at several upcoming events:

Missouri River Eagle Day

Saturday, December 10, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. CANCELLED on 12-9-16

Burr Oak Woods at LaBenite Park, Sugar Creek, MO (just east of MO 291 bridge)

Walk in anytime between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for the Live Eagle Program and Eagle Discovery Stations programs for all ages. Then bundle up for a ride on a pontoon boat on the Missouri River for the chance to view bald eagles in their own habitat. Registration is required by December 9 for the Missouri River Boat Tour by calling 816-228-3766 (ages 8+ with an adult). For more information, email [email protected].

If you can’t attend an Eagle Days event, look for eagles in the wild at one of the Missouri locations listed below. From late December through early February, watch for eagles perched in large trees along the water’s edge. View early in the morning to see the eagles flying and fishing.

Kansas Eagle Days

January is the month to view the nation’s symbol in Kansas.

Kaw Valley Eagles Day will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 in the USD 497 Auditorium in Lawrence, KS. There will be exhibits from conservation organizations, programs by local experts and a bus field trip to see bald eagles in the wild.
