See bison, cows, chicks, sheep & bees on farm tour

This year’s Miami County Farm Tour features all the basics of farm life in the region plus some extras like bison, cows, chickens, sheep and bees. Seven of the 15 stops are new this year on the May 13-14 self-guided, free tour.

The new stops include:

  • Foxfire Farm, 7195 W. 327th Street, Louisburg, featuring a wide range of fresh produce and berries
  • Isinglass Estate Winery, 16241 W 381st Street, La Cygne, with a 20-acre vineyard, tasting room and outdoor seating area
  • Miami Purebred Herefords, 36140 Victory Road, Paola, with American Royal award-winning cattle
  • S & S Stables, 25081 Orleans Road, Paola, offering trail rides around the arena as weather permits
  • Star Thrower Farm ,31320 Hedge Lane, Paola, with Icelandic sheep, 20 bee hives, organic fruits, vegetables and lavender
  • Stonehaven Bison Ranch, 32846 Block Road, Paola, with a herd of 40 and potentially as many as 10 calves
  • Timber View Farm Alpacas, 14713 W. 311th Street, Paola, with sheering demonstrations of Huacaya alpacas

  • Louisburg Cider Mill, 14730 68 Highway, Louisburg
  • Middle Creek Winery, 4345 W. 351st St., Louisburg
  • New Lancaster General Store, 36688 New Lancaster Road, Paola
  • Prothe’s Pecans, 33850 Victory Road, Paola
  • Silver Lining Herefords, 8435 W. 295th St., Louisburg
  • Star Thrower Farm, 31320 Hedge Lane, Paola
  • Yoho-Rigney Farmstead, 29975 Rogers Road, Louisburg

All stops will be open to visitors Saturday, May 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Each site offers family activities and several stops will have products for sale that may require refrigeration in a cooler. Most stops will have picnic and rest area amenities.

Louisburg Cider Mill will be hosting milking demonstrations at 10 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. provided by the Southwest Dairy Farmers’ Mobile Dairy Classroom on Saturday, May 13.
