Seedsavers-KC recently opened the first seed library in Kansas City at the Anita B. Gorman MO Department of Conservation Discovery Center.
Stocked with more than 121 varieties, visitors can check out up to 15 packages of seeds each year with a membership. In turn, Seedsavers-KC asks that members learn how to properly save seeds by attending one of their free classes, reading recommended literature or watching free online webinars. Members build seed saving skills with the goal of returning seeds to the Seed Library to replenish the supply for others to check out.
The seeds available are non GMO vegetables, annuals, perennials, natives, shrubs and trees.
The Seed Library is open Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Anita B. Gorman MO Department of Conservation Discovery Center, 4750 Troost, Kansas City, MO. An optional $1.00 lifetime donation is asked to join the Seed Library.
