LET-US hosts speaker and discussion series on Climate Change

The Lawrence Ecology Teams United in Sustainability (LET-US) will host a three-part speaker and discussion series on Climate Change – Lawrence Climate Change Talks. LET-US is an interfaith network in the Lawrence community that “endeavors to be faithful, relevant, and effective servants for educating and advocating Eco justice and Environmental sustainability.” The series includes three parts:

  • Part I: The Big Picture will provide the latest scientific data on the nature and degree of global climate change, the origins of those changes, and the most probable future trends from a planetary perspective. Presentation by Ken Lassman, author of Wild Douglas County, with questions and answers following.
  • Part II: The Local Picture will address local and regional changes that have already occurred due to global warming, the difference between “weather” and “climate,” and what Lawrence and the region will likely experience weather- and climate-wise in the future.
  • Part III: What Can We Do? will pursue the question: “If climate change is a planetary process, what, if anything, can be done locally and regionally that will make a difference?” This will include a facilitated group discussion about how people can address climate change individually and institutionally, on the local, national, and international level.

Part I: The Big Picture will be held 7 – 8:30 p.m., Oct. 12  at the Jewish Community Center , 916 Hilltop, Lawrence, KS. Part II: The Local Picture will be held 7 – 8:30 p.m., Oct. 19  at the Jewish Community Center , 916 Hilltop, Lawrence, KS. Part III: What Can We Do? will be held 7 – 8:30 p.m., Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence, 1263 N. 1100 Rd, Lawrence, KS.3
