Plug into Drive Electric Week

Drive Electric Week is a nationwide celebration of electric cars, and Kansas City is taking it to the next level with events throughout September.

Locally, events this month include electric car (EV) shows, test drives and opportunities to speak with EV owners and experts. This is a chance to see a Tesla or even all-electric trucks and motorcycles up-close. Supported by Electrify Heartland EV Coalition, Kansas City Regional Clean Cities Coalition, Mid-America Electric Auto Association, Plug In America and Sierra Club, there are many local events to celebrate the national event.

Kansas City All British Car and Cycle Show

Saturday, September 5, 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, September 6, 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

The Kansas City All British Car Show is returning to Zona Rosa Town Center and will feature electric cars as guest stars. A Tesla will be one of 20 cars featured in the Zona Rosa Square beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 5. The full show will be held on Sunday, September 6 and will include several electric vehicles alongside British cars. The Sunday event will be held on the second level of the Northwest Parking Garage by Dillard’s. Zona Rosa is located at 8640 N. Dixson Ave., Kansas City, MO.

EV Car Show

Wednesday, September 16, 4:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Electric vehicles will be available to view at Village Presbyterian Church in Mission, KS, and owners will answer questions and show the many features of their electric vehicle. The event will be held in the south parking lot at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS.

Chevrolet Volt

EV Ride & Drive

Friday, September 18, 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

This Black and Veatch event will have ride and drive opportunities as well as displays and electric vehicle owners available to talk to participants. The event will be held at Black and Veatch, 11401 Lamar Ave., Overland Park, KS.

Cruise Night

Friday, September 18, 5 p.m. – until dark

Cruise Night at the Long Branch Steakhouse will showcase electric vehicles along with a regular display of hot rods, street rods, customs, classics rat rides, street machines, motorcycles and more. This is the only night that EVs will be on display. Cruise Night will be held at Longbranch Saloon, 91st and Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS.

Living Green Expo

Saturday, September 26, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Metropolitan Energy Center will share information about alternative fuels and energy efficiency at the Living Green Expo. The event is organized through a partnership with Community of Christ Church, local businesses and area organizations. The event includes sustainability exhibits, resources, hands-on activities, displays and games. The expo will be held at 500 W. Pacific Ave., Independence, MO.
