When the holidays are over and your natural tree, wreath and garlands aren’t so lovely anymore, give them a second life with recycling. Many locations throughout the metro area will recycle holiday trees and greenery, and most services are free for residents.
Like other yard waste materials, holiday trees and greenery are banned from landfills in Missouri and discouraged in Kansas landfills. Recycling not only keeps these materials out of landfills, but also creates a useful resource that can be used for a variety of purposes. Tree mulch can be used for trail surfaces, erosion control and landscaping, and trees and branches can provide fish habitat in local lakes.
