“Check out” garden tools from library

You can now borrow gardening tools from a new Tool Lending Library that has pruners, push lawn mowers, post hole diggers, trowels, shovels, rakes, axes, spreaders and wheelbarrows.

The Olathe Public Library is piloting the new Tool Lending Library at its downtown location, 201 E. Park St. Just like books and movies, borrowers can borrow tools with an Olathe Public Library or Johnson County Library card.

The tool library currently has 70 items available and is open to people 18 or older with a Johnson County or Olathe library card account in good standing. To get started, borrowers must visit the downtown library, show a photo ID and apply for membership. After that, members can borrow up to five tools at a time for seven days.

The library will be gathering feedback on the value of the tool library and what items might be added in the future. Learn more at Olathe Public Library.
