Borrow garden tools from local library

Get your fall garden landscaping started by “checking out” garden tools like shovels, lawn mowers, pruners, post-hole diggers, spreaders, rakes, axes and wheelbarrows from a free Tool Lending Library.

The Olathe Public Library is piloting the new Tool Lending Library at its downtown location, 201 E. Park St. Just like books and movies, borrowers can borrow tools with an Olathe Public Library or Johnson County Library card.

The tool library currently has 70 items available and is open to people 18 or older with a Johnson County or Olathe library card account. Library cards are free and available to everyone. To get started, borrowers must visit the downtown library, show a photo ID and apply for membership. After that, members can borrow up to five tools at a time for seven days.
