Learn local solutions to worldwide climate crisis
Climate Reality Leaders will be offering practical solutions to climate change at local 24 Hours of Reality: Truth in Action events around the world.
More than 20,000 volunteers have been trained as Climate Reality Leaders by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and a team of international scientists. Some of them will be making 24 Hours of Reality: Truth in Action presentations throughout the country from November 20-21. To find an event near you, go to The Climate Reality Project.
In Kansas City, Sami Aaron, founder of The Resilient Activist and a Climate Reality Leader, will speak at a free presentation from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, November 18 at the Central Exchange Downtown, 1020 Central St. The event includes lunch, but requires a reservation at Central Exchange Downtown. Emily Knipp, a Climate Reality Leader, will be making a free presentation at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20 at Lakeside Nature Center, 4701 E. Gregory Blvd., Kansas City, MO.
The 24 Hours of Reality: Truth in Action presentations will educate residents on scientific findings and solutions. Scientists warn that unless fossil fuel emissions are radically reduced by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050, global warming could rise above 1.5 degrees Celsius and unleash a series of irreversible effects that lead to unprecedented catastrophes.
Weather.com’s Climate Disruption Index ranks Kansas City fifth of all U.S. cities to be most negatively impacted by climate change.
