If you’re looking for design advice on a low-maintenance, native plant garden, discover the tried-and-true plants that work best in a small landscape from a wildflower garden expert.
Scott Woodbury, manager of the Whitmire Wildflower Garden at Shaw Nature Reserve, will present Lower Maintenance Design and Plant Selection for Native Gardens at this Deep Roots workshop from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3 at the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center, 4750 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO. Tickets are $5. Advance registration is required at Deep Roots KC.
Woodbury will show how to design a native garden with top-performing native plants in small gardens under 150 square feet. He has managed the Whitmire Wildflower Garden at Shaw Nature Reserve for 28 years and at several other public gardens, including Old Westbury Gardens in New York, Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, Castello Di Uzzano in Italy and Tudor Place in Washington D.C. Woodbury currently serves as advisor to the horticulture program of St. Louis Community College, Grow Native! and Wild Ones St. Louis. He also volunteers for the Ozark Regional Land Trust and on the planning committees of the Partners for Native Landscaping annual conference and the Shaw Professional Landscaping Series.
