Qualifying items can be purchased in-store and online. In order to qualify, the appliance must have an Energy Star rating.

Energy-efficient appliances can help you save energy and money. Energy Star is a widely recognized label on products that meet strict energy-efficiency requirements set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Certified products are third-party certified and subject to ongoing verification testing.

As of 2024, the tax holiday exempts all state and local sales taxes during April 19 – 25.

You do not need to be a Missouri resident to purchase items tax-exempt during the holiday.

Since 2009, the sales tax holiday has been scheduled each year to promote energy efficiency during the week of Earth Day, April 22.

To learn more about the tax holiday, visit the Missouri Department of Revenue.
