Join the Local Food Challenge and pledge to eat local to help Cultivate KC feed families that are going hungry because of the economic impact of COVID-19.
This is a new online event that will support local farmers and restaurants and help raise money to feed people in need. For every meal supporters eat between June 29 and July 5, funds will be raised to help another family also be able eat local, healthy food.
The challenge will function like a walk-a-thon, only with local food. During the week-long challenge, participants pledge to eat as many meals as they can using local ingredients. Every meal (or drink!) prepared using local ingredients from a farmer, backyard garden, or restaurant that sources locally counts towards a set goal. Participants can reach out to friends and family to donate to their efforts, make a pledge per locally sourced meal or contribute a one-time donation. Every dollar raised will go toward providing local produce for families in need.
