Shop local organic farms, attend free webinars with farmers, get the kids in an ultimate local-food cooking challenge and more at a virtual Eat Local & Organic Expo throughout April.
KC Food Circle, which is now part of KC Healthy Kids, will launch a month of local food events with more than 60 local farmers. To keep the public safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be virtual with local options for food pickup.
Over four weeks, farmers will offer fresh greens, herbs, community supported agriculture (CSA) programs, garden plants, free-range meat and eggs, sustainable wares, free virtual farm talks and the “Ultimate Youth Recipe Challenge” to encourage kids to use local ingredients.
Shoppers can order local and organic food at a Virtual Farmers Market from April 1 – 9 and pick up produce from 2 – 5 p.m., Saturday, April 10 at either HJ’s Community Center, 6425 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO or The Merc Co+op, 501 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS.
Virtual Farm Talks include:
- Community Supported Agriculture (CSAs) with Paw Wah Tamla of New Roots for Refugees and Laura Christensen from 2 Birds Farm from 3 – 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 6
