KC Farm School Plant Sale and Jumble Swap
KC Farm School is hosting a plant sale and jumble swap on April 20 with vegetables, herbs, flowers, and native plants. Seed potatoes, soil mix, and compost will also be available. The event also includes local vendors.
KC Farm School is a non-profit whose mission is to empower individuals of all ages through on-farm, hands-on experiences, and education growing food on 14 urban acres in Wyandotte County.
Available Plants: All spring and the start of summer veggies, herbs, flowers, and native plants all grown from seed at KC Farm School including kale, chard, collard greens, lettuces, herbs, seed potatoes, onion starts, 20+ varieties of tomatoes, many sweet peppers and hot peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, many flowers, and several native plants.
Jumble Swap: Let’s celebrate Earth Day by closing the loop on waste! Clean out your closets and bring the things you no longer need and take home what you do. The swap is free. Items left at the end of the event will be donated to local organizations.
The sale will be held at KC Farm School at Gibbs Road, 4223 Gibbs Rd., Kansas City, KS on April 20 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Additional plant sales will be held on May 11 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
What to expect: Veggie and native plant starts will be available in 4-packs and single pots for sale as well as compost and an assortment of seeds, seed potatoes and more as the season allows. Plant sales will also feature vendors providing local food and goods, resources and more. When you arrive, most plants for sale will be placed outside of the greenhouse and grouped by type. The south end of the greenhouse will also house plants for sale.
Parking: Please park at Common Ground, 2443 South 42nd Street. KC, KS, 66106 and walk across S. 42nd St. to the greenhouse. Limited accessible parking is available near the greenhouse at 4223 Gibbs Road, KC, KS 66106.
What to bring: If you would like to purchase compost, please bring a bucket. A wagon could be helpful too! We will provide cardboard flats to carry your plants out.
Methods of payment: Cash, check, credit card, and Venmo for payment. SNAP accepted for seeds and edible plant purchases.
Resource return: We kindly ask that you return or reuse the plastics that house the plants after your garden is planted. You may drop them off at the next plant sale or return them during operating hours.
