Join Cultivate Kansas City for a Homegrown Happy Hour at its food forest, and explore edible plants tucked into an urban forest farm.

This Homegrown Happy Hour will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 at the Cultivate KC Food Forest at 55th and Mastin streets, Merriam, KS. The cost is $5. Register at CultivateKC.

The small, quarter-acre food forest is one of only a handful in the country that grows edibles in a unique way that works in harmony with and supports nature. Planted in 2011, with the support of a grant from the National Audubon Society and Toyota, the site is home to 39 varieties of fruit and nut trees and 12 different shrubs, including: apple, plum, peach cherry, pawpaw, Chinese chestnut, persimmon, fig, elderberry, serviceberry and Siberian pea.
