Time: 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Discover a unique, natural ecosystem, hike along the glades and take the kids to a forest treasure hunt at a free, family Fall in Love with Nature event hosted by the Heartland Conservation Alliance (HCA).
HCA invites the public to celebrate the fall season from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, November 9 at Camp Branch Glade Park 5151 W. 175th St., Stilwell, KS. There will be live music from Old Fangled, hiking through glades and along creeks, food trucks, live animals, a forest treasure hunt, bonfire and nature games.
Camp Branch Glade is a minimally developed 58-acre park adjacent to the 300-acre Camp Branch Park site that features a unique ecosystem. Opened in November 2014, the park’s forested areas and rare limestone glade habitat make it unlike any other park in the Johnson County Parks and Recreation Department system. Camp Branch Glade is one of the only sites in the county with a wealth of prickly pear cactus and numerous limestone features. The park contains a sinkhole, a large exposed limestone ridge, and numerous large boulders along a small intermittent stream that flows into Camp Branch Creek and then into the Blue River.
