Time: 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Escape into the Gardens at Sunset for an evening of live music, local food and drinks, and a silent auction to support Kansas City Community Gardens (KCCG) on Saturday, September 7.
KCCG, a non-profit organization that offers community gardening expertise and assistance, works across the city to create a diverse collection of gardens that are growing fresh fruits and vegetables and changing the food system. With 269 neighborhood gardens, 210 school gardens, and over 100 orchards in The Giving Grove program, gardens are changing the landscape of the city.
KCCG works with schools, nonprofits, churches, parents and grandparents to make growing their own food a reality for anyone. In 2017:
- 4,300 kids, teachers, and parents visited KCCG’s Beanstalk Children’s Garden.
- Students at 210 Schoolyard Gardens planted, harvested, and enjoyed produce from their own vegetable gardens with KCCG’s assistance.
- 37 Youth Gardens helped children and teens grow and harvest healthy food to share with families, safe houses, and food pantries.
Funds raised from this event will help KCCG continue to operate and expand these programs and help thousands of low-income Kansas Citians through KCCG’s Community Partner Gardens, Self-Help Gardens, Community Garden sites and The Giving Grove edible trees program.
The event will be held from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Saturday, September 7 at the Leanna Flandemeyer Beanstalk Children’s Garden, 6917 Kensington Ave., Kansas City, MO. Tickets are $80 per person and can be purchased online at KCCG.
