The Heartland Conservation Association is hosting a volunteer workday at the Heartland Overlook Preserve to remove invasive honeysuckle plants.
The workday is scheduled from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 25.
The preserve is 40 acres of oak and hickory nestled on the bluffs overlooking the Blue River in south Kansas City. The property was purchased at a public auction in August 2020 with help of a loan from The Conservation Fund.
HCA will provide gloves, tools, sunscreen and bug spray. Training will also be provided at the beginning of the workday. Volunteers should dress in long pants and wear close-toed shoes are required to maintain safety, and bring water.
The Heartland Overlook Preserve is located at 9106 Chestnut Ave., Kansas City, MO.
