Take a 2.5-mile nature walk along Brush Creek to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 17.

The 8th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Nature Walk is hosted by Heartland Conservation AllianceKansas City Park and Recreation and Missouri State Parks.

The walk begins at 9:30 a.m. at  the 15 and Mahomies” Playground at Martin Luther King Jr. Square Park, Woodland Avenue and MLK Boulevard, and will conclude at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Center, 3700 Blue Parkway, Kansas City, MO.

Free parking is available at Martin Luther King Jr. Square Park and a shuttle will be available for participants to return to the parking lot.

The walk winds along Brush Creek Parkway to the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Center, ending at 1 pm. Find a map at Heartland Conservation Alliance.

Organizers call the event a “restorative walk to enjoy the stillness of nature as we reflect on the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”  Walkers are encouraged to pick up litter along Brush Creek.
