If you’d like to get hands-on help making a rain barrel, Johnson County, KS homeowners can learn how to make and install a rain barrel at an upcoming workshop.

The Johnson County Stormwater Department and Bridging The Gap (BTG) are sponsoring the Rain Barrel Workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13 at Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch Road, Merriam, KS.

The workshop costs $65 and includes the barrel, use of all necessary tools, materials needed to create a rain barrel and installation instructions. Residents can participate for free if they do not want to purchase the barrel. Rain barrels purchased at this event could be eligible for 50-percent reimbursement for Johnson County residents.
