Job Description

Support the Store Manager with the hands-on management of daily store operations. Lead the delivery of excellent customer service with a mix of paid and volunteer staff. Work in partnership with the Volunteer Manager to ensure the effective utilization of volunteer resources, including training, supervision and evaluation of volunteers. Participate in the marketing of the store. Please note that an application and resume are required for this salaried, full time position.

Position Tasks and Duties:

1. Build relationships with our customers and staff, ensuring a consistent, positive experience consistent with our values, policies and guidelines.

2. Ensure customer care, from maintaining the tools necessary in a self-service environment, to directly providing customer service and managing those that do so, to resolving customer issues.

3. Supervise sales floor personnel, both paid and volunteer.

4. Support each volunteer’s service experience; ensure daily maintenance of the store’s volunteer program in coordination with the Volunteer Manager; contribute to a positive, supportive atmosphere of volunteer engagement.

5. Assist with the management of sales floor inventory, from merchandise displays to sales and price reductions.

6. Works in partnership with the Store Manager to maintain the safety, function and appearance of all public areas of the store and common staff areas; uphold relations with necessary vendors.

7. Confer with Store Manager on daily planning of store operations.

8. Participate in store marketing, utilizing social media and other available tools.

9. Efficiently and effectively operate the store in the absence of the Store Manager.



1. Magnetic personality that sets the tone for our mission-based store and unique customer experience.

2. Ability to build relationships through strong interpersonal relation skills.

3. Minimum 1 year of personnel management experience, including daily work assignments for a team of 6+ people, volunteer supervision experience favored.

4. Skilled communicator with conflict resolution skills.

5. Ability to coordinate multiple requests in a high-pressure environment.

6. Fluent computer skills on Windows OS with Microsoft Office, Internet and social media tools.

7. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis and spend majority of day on feet.

8. Forklift certified, training provided.

9. Knowledge of building materials and home improvement a plus.

10. Bilingual ability is helpful, but not required.



Salary with core 40 hours to be performed Tues-Sat; some schedule flexibility with supervisor.
