Full-Time Education Program Manager – Kansas City
Job Description
BikeWalkKC seeks a Program Manager for our Education program, including Safe Route to School and adult education programs.
REPORTS TO: Director of Education
STATUS: Full-time, exempt (some evening and weekend work required)
LOCATION: 1106 East 30th Street, Kansas City, MO – with extensive travel to schools and program sites around the metro area
The Education Program Manager assists the Director of Education in leading adult and youth education programs, and serves as the immediate supervisor for Instructors.
SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages instruction staff (8-10 part-time positions)
- Administrative tasks:
- Tracks program and class data in the program database
- Approves bi-monthly time sheets for instruction staff
- Submits monthly education team reports to Director of Education
- Onboards new instructors
- Conducts instructor trainings
- Conducts field training with new instructors
- Holds bi-annual 1-on-1 meetings with instructors in order to develop teaching ability
- Sends weekly organizational updates to all instructors via email
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides general oversight of youth and adult education program delivery
- Responsible for working toward education goals established in the annual strategic plan
- Actively develops new curricula and expand programs in order to further BWKC’s mission
- Ensures lessons and key concepts are taught
- Assists with Safe Routes to School outreach and implementation
- Organizes and lead pre/post-semester briefs and debriefs for instructor team
- Assists Outreach Coordinator in scheduling instructors and coordinating schedules for people and equipment resources
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES
YOUTH PROGRAMS
- Responsible for staffing programs based on capacity, need, and demand
- Responsible for fulfilling youth education grant deliverables (specific foundation grants beyond MODOT & KDOT)
- Responsible for ensuring program quality and professional reputation
- Oversees curriculum development and program evaluation
ADULT PROGRAMS
- Oversees curriculum development and program evaluation
- Oversees Bike Maintenance Apprenticeship (in coordination with other education staff)
OTHER
- Development: assists Director of Education with funding requests and grant reports with the help of other education staff
- Communications: assists the marketing and communications team with education program storytelling with the help of other education staff (photos, blog posts, social media, etc.)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Detail-oriented and diligent, but also flexible and adaptable
- High level of cultural competency and comfort working in highly diverse communities
- Ability to work independently towards defined goals and tasks
- Good driving record
- Passion for our mission and work
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience managing employees
- Experience in education and instructional settings
- Experience with Google Workspace and online database systems
PERFORMANCE AND OUTCOMES EVALUATION
The Education Programs Manager will work with the Director of Education to establish an annual work plan both individually and for the education team. They will meet quarterly to define goals and objectives for the next quarter and evaluate the progress toward the previous quarter’s goals and objectives.
WORKPLACE
BikeWalkKC has an open office in Midtown Kansas City, MO. We are a mission-based organization with a collaborative and supportive work culture. This position requires extensive travel around the KC metro area to schools and other program sites. Some remote work is possible, but this position requires extensive on-site and face-to-face work.
