The Lawrence Farmers Market Inc. is seeking an innovative Market
Coordinator. This is a part-time position averaging 20-25 hours per
week, although actual hours will vary by season.  Salary is based on
20-25 hours per week at $11-$13 per hour depending on qualifications.

1. Applicant must have excellent communication skills, both spoken and written, with an ability to be tactful, personable and enthusiastic.
2. Applicant must possess web publication skills.
3. Applicant must be comfortable using Excel and Microsoft Office.
4. Applicant must be a creative self-starter with the ability to initiate and implement projects.
5. Applicant must have strong organizational skills.
6. Applicant must have strong leadership skills to lead a diverse group forward.

The market coordinator works with the Board of Directors of Farmers
Market, the vendors, community officials and the public to help make
the market a vibrant, exciting place to be.  Coordinator
responsibilities include:

Market Responsibilities:
1. Ensure smooth operation of the Market by communicating and enforcing all rules and regulations.
2. Mediate any disputes at Market.
3. Respond to any complaints at Market.
4. Maintain a safe, hazard free environment at Market.
5. Plan and orchestrate 4-6 special events per season.
6. Schedule musicians and community groups for Saturday Market.

Market Responsibilities:
1. Arrive at Saturday Market at 5:00 am.
2. Arrange for towing of any cars parked at 5:00 am in Market area.
3. Set up Market square and tables, etc
4. Assign floaters to empty spaces with a map that Coordinator maintains.
5. Ring Market opening bell at 7:00 am.
6. Staff Market booth and EBT machine.
7. Ring closing bell at 11:00 am and take down and stow all material in trailer.
8. Staff weekday Market on Tuesday and Thursday
9. Place barricades at 1:00 pm for Tuesday Market.
10. Arrive at 3:00 pm. and ring bell at 4:00 pm for Weekday Markets.
11. Staff EBT machine for Weekday Markets.
12. Ring closing bell at 6:00 pm for Weekday Markets.

1. Seek funding through grant writing etc.
2. Maintain Vendor Directory
3. Prepare market sites for the season (ie. secure permits, secure porta-potty, stall numbers).
4. Check and respond to Market mail
5. Answer phone queries about the Market.
6. Review and update Market guidelines as needed.
7. Print and distribute guidelines and bylaws at winter meeting.
8. Process Vendor applications and collect vendor fees.
9. Mail stall cards to vendors.

1. Submit agenda items to Board chair.
2. Submit monthly coordinator’s report at monthly Board meetings.
3. Reserve location for winter and annual membership meetings.
