Full-Time Sustainability Manager – Overland Park, KS
Job Description
The City of Overland Park has a new Sustainability Manager position available in the City Manager’s Office.
Responsibilities: The Sustainability Manager will work closely with departments, boards and committees, and other external and internal stakeholders to establish the mechanisms necessary to accomplish the City’s sustainability goals and initiatives. This position will plan, direct, manage and oversee both external and internal sustainability programs. Develop and implement other sustainability projects, policies and processes in collaboration with City staff. This position is expected to have a high community engagement component as the City works to foster a sustainable culture for the organization, residents and volunteers. Position will aid in the identification of outside funding sources, coordinate completion of associated applications and reporting requirements. Acts as staff liaison for the Environmental Advisory Council (EAC).
Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Urban Affairs/Planning, Sustainability Studies, Architecture or Architectural Studies, Public Administration/Policy, Engineering, Physical Science, Natural Science, Biological Science, Business Administration or closely related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record.
- Ability to travel and tour City projects in adverse conditions to include, but not limited to: accident sites, construction sites, outdoor sites, remote sites, interior and exterior building inspections, etc.
- Ability to read and comprehend City, state and federal regulations.
Supervisory Responsibility (Direct & Indirect):
- Sustainability Programs Coordinator, direct
Must successfully pass a background check, drug screen, and physical.
Normal Work Hours: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; Mon.-Fri.
Salary Range: $84,297.67 – $105,372.09 annually
