Make plans now to join the Heartland Renewable Energy Society (HRES) on a bus trip to Solar Village for its annual Energy Solutions Tour on Saturday, October 8.
For 10 years, HRES has showcased solar and energy-efficient homes in the Kansas City metropolitan area. This year, the tour travels to Rolla, MO for a tour of Solar Village and its six energy-efficient, 100-percent solar powered houses.
Solar Village was designed by the Missouri University of Science and Technology Solar House Design Team as an entry in the Solar Decathlon, a contest sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.
The tour is being co-sponsored by HRES and the Kansas Sierra Club. Tour tickets, which include the bus trip, are $30. To register, send a check to: HRES, c/o Craig Wolfe, 9844 Georgia Ave., Kansas City, KS 66109. Mark HRES Tour on the check. The bus leaves Kansas City at 8 a.m. and will leave Rolla at 4:30 p.m. for the return trip. Departure information will be sent to participants.
The Energy Solutions Tour will provide tour scholarships to eight area college students to attend. Students must be participating in a sustainable field of study. For more information on the tour, contact Craig Wolfe at [email protected].
Can you purchase tickets and drive yourself instead of taking the bus? If so, how much are the tickets?
