Get your hands dirty as a volunteer at the campus farm and harvest greens, radishes and peas to be served at Epicenter’s Farm Lunch on Monday. Register at [email protected].

Nationally recognized speakers and interactive leadership development opportunities will highlight this student-centered conference on the economies of reuse. Speakers include:
- 9:15 a.m. Erin Meezan, vice president of sustainability for Interface, will outline the company’s sustainability vision for the past 20 years.
- 10:40 a.m.: Tim O’Neill, co-owner of Urban Lumber in Kansas City, MO, will speak on how this new lumber mill is reusing local trees that previously would be been rejected as unusable. The wood is being used to build coffee table, cabinets and many other woodworking projects.
- 1 p.m.: Leyla Acaroglu, a New York-based Australian designer, social scientist and sustainability entrepreneur, will explore the “post mortem” lives of things that enter the waste stream.

Stop Hunger Now Food Packaging Event
Wednesday, April 20, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., RC 101
JCCC students are working to help the national Stop Hunger movement by packaging 20,088 meals. They are asking volunteers to bring a canned source of protein for the JCCC Food Pantry to the packaging event. Visit Stop Hunger Now for information about world hunger.
Sustainable Campus Walking Tours

Members of the Student Environmental Alliance and Student Sustainability Committee will meet guests at the stairs outside COM to take a sustainability related walking tour around campus.
Earth Day Activities
Friday, April 22, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Fountain Square
Join the JCCC Student Environmental Alliance for easy craft projects with reused materials, people-powered snacks, recycling Jeopardy (with prizes for winners) and an Earth Day clothing swap.
To participate in the clothing swap, bring clean clothes in good condition to OCB 157-C. For every piece of clothing or accessory, you will receive a ticket to swap out the equivalent amount of clothing. If you don’t have clothing to swap, you can purchase clothes for $1. Proceeds will benefit the JCCC Student Environmental Alliance. If it rains, the event will be held in Carlsen Center lobby.
