When it’s time to take down the holiday lights, help keep thousands of pounds of wire, plastic and light bulbs out of the landfill by recycling any that are broken.
All broken lights can be recycled through Southeast Enterprises, a sheltered workshop for people with developmental disabilities. The non-profit has recycled more than 130,000 pounds since 2011.
There is no fee to donate lights, and 100 percent of the lights will be recycled. Lights can be dropped off all year at Southeast Enterprises, 6701 Booth Ave., Kansas City, MO. An additional group of partners will be accepting broken lights at collection centers through January s11. Find a list of collection containers at Southeast Enterprises.
You can also drop your lights off at Cottin’s Hardware & Rental, 1832 Massachusetts Street, Lawrence, KS 66044 and they will take them to Southeast Enterprises for you!
Thanks for the info on recycling holiday lights!
