When the holiday celebrations are over, recycle your Christmas tree, greenery, lights and glass at these local drop-off and curbside sites.
Tree recycling: Overland Park, KS
The city of Overland Park has four locations to recycle Christmas trees and other natural holiday foliage. These items can be recycled through Sunday, January 7 at the following locations:
- Young’s Park, 7701 Antioch Road
- Indian Creek Recreation Center, 10308 Marty St.
- Quivira Park, 11901 Quivira Road
- Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, 8809 W. 179th St.
Tree recycling: Kansas City, MO
Residents can drop off Christmas trees for free on Saturdays through January 13. During the week, there is a $5 fee. The Kansas City, MO recycling sites are located at:
- 11660 N. Main St.
- 1815 N. Chouteau Trafficway
- 10301 Raytown Road
Tree recycling: Lawrence, KS
“Tree-cycling” of live-cut trees will take place at curbside in Lawrence, KS the week of January 2 – 6 on residents’ normal trash collection day. The tree should be by the curb or in the alley by 6 a.m. For more information, call 832-3030.
Southeast Enterprises is collecting broken holiday lights at several locations through January 12 and throughout the year at Southeast Enterprises, 6701 Booth Ave., Kansas City, MO.
All of those holiday wine, beer and olive glass bottles can easily be recycled locally. Just look for the purple bin outside the grocery store or one of the many locations listed at Ripple Glass.
