Girls ages 11-15 can practice outdoor skills such as fishing and water safety at a free, three-day, two-night Discover Nature Girls Camp in June.
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host the camp from June 26-28 at Heit’s Point Lutheran Camp near Lincoln in Benton County.
The overall goal is to give girls the confidence to explore Missouri’s outdoors on their own. Campers will also become Missouri hunter education certified.
MDC is also seeking adult female camp chaperones. Applicants must pass a background check.
For a camper or chaperone application, contact Brian Bartlett, MDC conservation agent, at 816-835-6087. Applications are also available at some MDC offices, including the Kansas City Regional Office, 12405 Ranson Road, Lee’s Summit, MO.
Camp spots will be filled in the order completed applications are received until the March 31 deadline. In past years, he camp has filled quickly and has a waiting list.
