The Lawrence Public Library is opening a seed library on Monday, April 6. Just in time for spring planting, the library will serve as a distribution point for non-genetically engineered, organic, heirloom variety garden seeds.
After this initial first year phase, the library will offer educational events to host seed returns and exchanges. The project will concentrate on the seeds that are easier to collect and preserve by the average gardener.
For more information about the seed library, contact Kristin Soper at 785-843-3833.
Additional seed libraries exist in Kansas City at the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center and at the Kansas City Library Ruiz Branch.
