If you love DIY and want to learn how to live more sustainably in the city, sign up for the Urban Homesteading Series classes offered this fall.
The University of Missouri Extension is launching eight classes on urban homesteading from September 22 through November 17. Participants will learn about:
- Urban homesteading Intro
- Maintaining healthy soils and composting basics
- Food preservation and waste reduction
- Livestock in urban settings
- Zoning laws and home energy production
- Basic landscaping and lawn/tree maintenance
- Home vegetable and fruit production
- Sustainability and special topics
The classes will be held from 6 – 8:30 p.m. on September 22 and 29; October 6, 13 and 20; November 3, 10 and 17 at the Jackson County MU Extension Center, 105 E. 5th St., Kansas City, MO. The cost is $90 for the series or $15 per class. Class size is limited. Register by calling 816-482-5850.
