The UMKC Economics Club is sponsoring a free public forum on How Saving the Planet will Create Jobs and Fix the Economy at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24.
The forum will be held on the University of Missouri-Kansas City campus, Royall Hall, Room 104, 800 E 52nd Street, Kansas City, MO. The four speakers include:
Jeremy Knoll, a project manager at BNIM, is an architect with a deep passion for green building and social equity. His recent work includes the revitalization of the Bancroft School in Kansas City, MO into a neighborhood center with 50 affordable, LEED Platinum certified apartments, a health clinic and neighborhood association offices.
Robin Martinez is an attorney representing family farmers and ranchers opposing the Keystone XL pipeline in proceedings before the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission. As a member of Kansas City’s Environmental Management Commission, he chaired a task force studying and developing recommendations for sustainable solutions to the city’s vacant lot problem.
Mat Forstater is a UMKC economics professor and director of The Center for Full Employment and Price Stability, a non-partisan, non-profit policy institute at UMKC that is dedicated to promoting research and public discussion of issues related to macroeconomic and monetary policy, especially employment and budgetary policy.
Scott Allegrucci is senior development and communications officer for the Land Institute, a science-based research organization that promotes alternatives to current destructive agricultural practices. He is formerly a senior campaign representative for the Sierra Club Beyond Coal Campaign and founding member and executive director of the Great Plains Alliance for Clean Energy.
The forum is free and open to the public.
