Nominate a Sustainable Success Story

Do you know a group working on green initiatives to improve our metropolitan area? Nominate them for a 2018 Sustainable Success Story award from the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC).

A panel of local judges will select projects for presentation at the Sustainable Success Stories forum on December 7 at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center. This annual event allows honorees to share local successes and challenges so that forum attendees can learn about practices that contribute to improvements in our community’s quality of life.

This year, the competition will emphasize projects and initiatives in the metro Kansas City area that emphasize ways that infrastructure projects can benefit from sustainability concepts — such as green infrastructure projects and initiatives related to stormwater management and transportation projects and initiatives that encourage green and complete streets.

However, all sustainable success stories are eligible, and anyone can make a submission.

Sustainable Success Stories is part of an ongoing community effort focused on better understanding of sustainable practices that have the potential to transform the metro area. Past projects have included outdoor classroom gardens, street-scape improvements by municipalities, nonprofit programming and energy-efficient building retrofits.

Submit a nomination to MARC Sustainable Success Stories by September 28. For more information, contact Carmellya Anderson at [email protected].
