Check out America Recycles Day events

Across the country, residents will be able to recycle a variety of items on America Recycles Day, Friday, November 15.

To find an event near you, go to America Recycles Day and search by city or zip code.

In the Kansas City metro area, Downtown Overland Park Downtown and Johnson County Department of Health and Environment will be accepting old and unwanted electronics and paper (for shredding) at its recycling event from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 14 in the parking lot off of Marty Street between 79th and 80th Street near the Overland Park Farmers’ Market Pavilion. Charges apply for televisions ($25 per item) and CRT computer monitors ($20 per item). Other electronics, cell phones, digital cameras, keyboards, etc. and documents for shredding are free to drop off. For more information, contact Brandon Hearn, [email protected] or 913-238-6876.

Keep America Beautiful that sponsors the initiative encourages participants to take the #BeRecycled Pledge to buy products with less packaging, look for recyclable items and encourage others to recycle.
