Bus, bike or walk to the Super Bowl parade

In true Kansas City spirit, Chiefs fans will trek through forecasted snow and freezing temperatures today to see KC’s first Super Bowl parade in 50 years.

Here’s how you can get there car-free (or almost) and avoid driving, waiting, parking, more waiting and burning countless gallons of gas and CO2.

  1. Plot your route and start early for an 11:30 a.m. parade start time. Check Chiefs Champions Parade for a parade map and updates.
  1. If you live or work within two miles of the parade route or rally at Union Station, the fastest way to get there could be walking.
  1. For longer distances, find public transportation routes at RideKC. All KCATA buses will be free all day on February 5, but regular routes will be impacted by the parade. Be prepared to walk from drop-off locations.
  1. Carpool to a nearby RideKC Park & Ride location. Buses will be available at these five locations for rides to the parade from 7 a.m. -11:30 a.m. and for return rides at the end of the parade:
  • 47th and State Metrocenter, 4601 State Ave, Kansas City, KS / Dropoff: 31st & Gillham
  • Worlds of Fun, 4545 Worlds of Fun Ave, Kansas City, MO / Dropoff: Truman Road & Lydia
  • HyVee Arena / West Bottoms, 1800 Genessee St, Kansas City, MO / Dropoff: 18th & Troost
  • Swope Park/Zoo, 6800 Zoo Drive, Kansas City, MO / Dropoff: 31st & Main
  • Oak Park Mall, 11149 W. 95th St, Overland Park, KS (95th and Neiman Road Park & Ride location) / Dropoff: 25th & Southwest Boulevard
  1. If roads are clear enough, hop on a RideKC bike or scooter to get to the parade route. Find bike stations at RideKC Bikes. Download the Drop Mobility app and use the code SUPERBOWLWIN for a free 20-minute ride on parade day. Get the pedal bike app at BCycle. Bikes will be positioned at stations outside the downtown area for easier accessibility.
  1. Before heading out to use public transportation, check the RideKC Bus and RideKC MAX for any significant service changes.
