Celebrate Eagle Days at Wyandotte Lake

Get a front-row view of nesting eagles and experience indoor nature programs at the Wyandotte County Lake Eagle Days this weekend.

The 19th annual Eagle Days at Wyandotte County Lake Park is a free event open to visitors January 18-19 to view birds and other wildlife in their natural environment.

Two locations in Wyandotte County Lake Park offer indoor nature programs and outdoor bird-viewing areas. The Mr. & Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library and James P. Davis Hall in Kansas City, KS will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday. The park is located at Leavenworth Road and North 91st St, Kansas City, KS.

A different variety of live birds will be featured in exhibits at each location. The weekend activities include educational programs with Operation Wildlife, children’s activities, binocular checkout and outdoor spotting areas for viewing birds along the lake. The Operation Wildlife organization rescues and rehabilitates injured animals. The birds that cannot be released back into the wild are featured in the Eagle Days educational programs.

Eagle Days at Wyandotte County Lake is sponsored in partnership with Operation Wildlife, the Mr. & Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library; Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU); the Kansas City, Kansas Public Library; Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools; and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS Parks & Recreation.
