Kansas ranks 6 in wind energy generation

The American Wind Energy Association was in Lenexa, KS Thursday, April 10 to highlight the state’s contribution to wind energy. It’s annual U.S. Wind Energy Annual Market Report shows Kansas moved up to No. 6 in the total amount of electricity generated by wind in 2013 and No. 8 in the amount of installed wind energy capacity.

Nationally, wind energy meets 4.1 percent of the electricity demand in the U.S., compared to 0.03 percent a decade ago. To read the report, go to www.awea.org/marketreports.
