Tour solar homes across the country

The annual National Solar Tour will showcase the energy savings of hundreds of solar homes and businesses at onsite and virtual tours in 47 states on Saturday, October 2 and Sunday, October 3.

Since many of the tours are virtual, participants have the opportunity to see homes in many different locations. To find a list of homes and businesses by location, go to National Solar Tour.

In the Kansas City metro area, two homes will be featured on virtual tours hosted by Heartland Renewable Energy Society.

Hoech House

The home of George Hoech in Fairway, KS will host a virtual tour featuring a 16.3 kilowatt hour (kWh) ground-mounted solar array of 48 340-watt panels and two inverters. This is a grid-tie system with a battery backup.

Dearborn House

This solar home is located on a large acreage in Dearborn, MO and is designed to be a passive solar house with geothermal and a 3 kWh solar tracking PV mount.

Cromwell Solar Open House

Cromwell Solar will open its’ building for tours from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 2. Visitors will see PV solar arrays, battery storage systems and can learn about solar systems for residential, farm and commercial properties. Cromwell Solar is located at 615 Vermont St., Lawrence, KS.
