Connect with local experts this Saturday on solar, composting, organic food, energy efficiency, biking, electronic recycling, native plants, climate change, and more at the free Go Green 2024! fair.
The event features an impressive lineup of over 30 local exhibitors and education sessions with resources to live more sustainably.
The environmental fair will held in Mission, KS on Saturday, September 14 at the Powell Community Center, 6200 Martway St from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The event also includes children’s activities, electronic recycling, native plants for sale, Eco Elvis, and a thrift store fashion show.
The exhibitors include Ripple Glass, Suds Refillery, KC Can Compost, BikeWalkKC, Missouri Organic, City Roots Nursery, Compost Collective KC, Good Energy Solutions, Metro Energy Center, BoysGrow, and more.
The education sessions include:
- 9:30 a.m. – Game Changers: Accelerating climate literacy through games & simulations.
- 10:00 a.m. – Otto’s Environmental Improvements: focusing on the identification and responsible removal of invasive plants.
- 10:30 a.m. – Ripple Glass: education on the importance and ease of glass recycling.
- 11:00 a.m. – Metropolitan Energy Center: education on the practical ways to make their homes and transportation more sustainable.
- 11:30 a.m. – Green CAT Services: promoting energy efficiency, planting trees, and educating homeowners and business owners on programs and incentives in our area.
Secure eCycle will be taking old computers and electronics, focusing on laptops, desktops and monitors and recycling them at the event. There is no need to remove or wipe hard drives ahead of time as they offer certified data destruction and recycling services. Fees apply for certain items including $20 for monitors and $40 for TVs.
The event is hosted by cities of Fairway, Merriam, Mission, Mission Hills, Mission Woods, Prairie Village, Roeland Park, Westwood and Westwood Hills.
