During KC Bike Month, join Kansas City cyclists and bike to a brewery tour, a move or work; take a women’s confidence cycling class or help the kids bike to school.
BikeWalkKC is sponsoring numerous events in partnership with other community organizations. Here are some of the KC Bike Month events that are open to the public.
Discounts on Bike Share Annual Membership
May 1 – May 31
During Bike Month, Kansas City BCycle is offering a 30-percent discount on annual memberships for unlimited 60-minute rides throughout the year. To purchase a membership online, use the code BikeMonth18. The regular price is $65 a year.
Tour de Bier Warm-Up Ride and Social at Chicken n Pickle
Monday, May 7, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Chicken N Pickle, 1761 Burlington St., North Kansas City, MO
Warm up for the Tour de Bier at these two events on the same evening. Start with the Mondays Aren’t So Bad free, bike ride from Gregg/Klice Community Center at 18th and Vine to Chicken N Pickle, 1761 Burlington St., Kansas City, MO. It begins at 6 p.m. for a casual, no-drop group ride and ends at the Tour de Bier Social for discounted pickleball at Chicken N Pickle from 6 -8 p.m.
BikeWalkKC’s Women-Only Confident City Cycling
Tuesdays, May 8 and 15; 6 – 8:30 p.m.
BikeWalkKC Headquarters, 3269 Gillham Road, Suite C, Kansas City, MO
This series of biking classes begins on Tuesday evenings in May for a safe and supportive place for women to learn bike handling skills, rules of the road, and other tips and tricks. This intensive series teaches safety knowledge and bike handling skills, culminating with a group bike ride.

Thousands of students across the country will participate in the sixth annual National Bike to School Day. Register your school at Bike to School.

Celebrate Bike to Work Week during your morning commute on Tuesday, May 15 along Southwest Boulevard. Cyclists can enjoy bagels, coffee and partner giveaways from 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. at two locations: 1401 Southwest Boulevard and 301 Southwest Boulevard.
Wednesday, May 16, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
The Kansas City community will join cyclists across the globe for the 12th annual Ride of Silence to honor those who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways.
Thursday, May 17, 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Boulevard Drive-In, 1051 Merriam Lane, Kansas City, KS
This family-friendly event will feature the movie, The Sandlot, plus games and activities for all ages. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. and the movie begins at sunset. This event is free for those who bike or walk, or $5 per car.
Friday, May 18
Join fellow commuters with a bike ride to work on May 18. From 2000 to 2013, the number of bicycle commuters in the U.S. grew by more than 62 percent.
Sunday, May 20, 8 a.m.- 3 p.m., Knuckleheads Saloon, 2100 Rochester, Kansas City, MO
Explore the city’s brewery heritage and modern brewery scene on this unique bike ride. There will be tours ranging from 17 to 50 miles. All funds raised support BikeWalkKC. Visit Tour de Bier to learn more and register for the ride.
