This Election Day, Kansas City metro voters can get a free ride to the polls, including with the new IRIS on-demand service.
In a dedicated effort to support voter access, Kansas City, MO in partnership with IRIS and KCATA, is offering free rides to polling locations on Election Day through the Vote Your Voice initiative.
Free ways to get to the polls include:
- IRIS On-Demand Transit: IRIS will provide free rides to and from polling stations, with virtual stops added near voting locations that will run 30 minutes before polling stations open and continues until 30 minutes after they close.
- RideKC Buses: Bus service is free in the metro with many routes near polling places.
- Bird Scooters: Rent a Bird Scooter using the promo code ROCKTHEVOTE2024
- RideKC Bike: Rent a bike with RideKC Bike and use the promo code in the app for free ride credits
For help planning your RideKC bus ride to the polls, use the RideKC trip planner. To use IRIS, bird scooters, or RideKC Bike, search the app store on your mobile device.
With IRIS, a vehicle picks up customers at pickup points and takes them to a location in specific zones. People may share a ride with as many as four other people. It is not door to door like Uber, but is a convenient on-demand transit option.
To find your polling place and check your voter status, Kansas City residents in Jackson County can visit the Kansas City Election Board. For other locations in Missouri, start with the Secretary of State’s office.
In Kansas, Johnson County voters can access resources at Johnson County Election Office and Wyandotte County election information is available at Wyandotte County Election Office. For those who live elsewhere in Kansas, information is available at Vote Kansas.
