Team up with local women cyclists for a Ride to First Fridays and the second annual Women’s Bike Summit.
Hosted by BikeWalk Kansas City, both events in September are designed to help women gain confidence on a bike. There will be hands-on opportunities and discussions of issues that are relevant to women cyclists. The events include:
Ride to First Fridays in the Crossroads – September 4
Cyclists will meet in the Crossroads to visit art galleries and spread the word about the summit. Two First Friday rides will meet at 6 p.m. on September 4 and leave their starting location at 6:30 p.m. Both routes will be no-drop, meaning no one is left behind. Riders should plan to ride about three miles and bring a water bottle. RSVP online here.
- South ride: Meet at BikeWalkKC office, 3269 Gillham Rd., Kansas City, MO
- North ride: Meet at the main entrance to the City Market, near Bo Ling’s, 20 E. 5th St., Kansas City, MO
Women’s Bike Summit – September 19
The summit will be held 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, September 19 at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center, 4801 Rockhill Rd., Kansas City, MO. The first 50 people to sign up will receive a Timbuk2 messenger bag. To learn more and to register, visit www.bikewalkkc.org.
