To celebrate the road to the Super Bowl, youth in Kansas City and Philadelphia gathered for a Super Bowl of Service trash pickup event.
Kansas City volunteers collected 9 bags of trash near Arrowhead Stadium at the Rock Island Trail on Saturday, February 4 as part of the “Volunteer for 15” challenge.
“Volunteer for 15” is a partnership between Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ 15, the Mahomies Foundation, and the nationally known youth service organization Youth Volunteer Corps.
Youth ages 11-18 take a summer pledge to volunteer 15 hours of community service. This year, the program kicked off with the Superbowl of Service. Youth can now sign up to join the pledge for 2023.
When the program launched in 2022, 539 took the pledge across the U.S. and Canada with 34% of participants from Kansas City. Youth volunteered a total of 12,844 hours.
