Green Works launched its retail store last spring as a workforce social enterprise that supports its environmental youth programs. The shop sells products that respect the Earth’s limited resources, including practical items made from repurposed materials. Products include cutting boards and small tables from salvaged wood, tote bags from vinyl banners and denim scraps, and high quality pre-owned items. The shop also has everyday alternatives to plastic or paper options, like cloth napkins, cloth produce bags and glass recycling carriers from Ripple Glass. Several items were designed and manufactured by Green Works’ students.
During the growing season, The Perennial Bee sells native plants and cut flowers, plus a collection of pre-owned books about nature, gardening, hiking and sustainable crafts.
Green Works helps empower more than 150 students each year as they learn about environmental leadership and creating healthy communities through hands-on environmental science, outdoor experiences, service projects and career exploration.
